Treadle On Birthday Bash
10th Anniversayr
2008
Here you have a very rushed job of posting some photos of the TOGA... I haven't made much attempt at getting names in... that will come later. Also, this is not meant to be a complete history of the event... it will need to be supplemented by the photos of others. These are just the shots i got when I could take the time. Also, so apology... I'm still getting used to the new camera Ann got me for my birthday, so there are occasional focus and lighting problems...
Enjoy...

Truck almost empty. When the doors were first opened I wasn't there with the camera, but the truck was loaded right to the doors and full to the ceiling.

The stash after we had separated out all the non-quilting fabric (2 stuffed van loads) and sent that to Deseret Industries and St. Vincent de Paul. This is purely batting and boxes of quilt fabric. 50 boxes of quilt fabric were distributed to 10 charity quilting groups, primarily involved with wounded veterans, the families of veterans lost, children in hospital wards and one battered women's shelter.

A very pretty little HA-1.... which proved to be my own undoing... Hey, I said I was keeping primarily Class 15 machines, and it is a Class 15 machine! |

The dremls, with the help of their New Zealand button hound, kept busy gathering buttons that were dropped on the floor. They also salvaged some buttons from the Stromberg Stash.

This is a pretty darn good picture of a TOGA in full swing...

Pat Nordmark finds a quiet moment and a quiet corner to learn to play the mountain dulcimer.

When they began to get under foot, we shooed the dremls outside, where they managed to find an unworked lode of buttons, which, of course, they did a rapid job of mining... |
While out in the garden, they came upon St. Francis, who conducted a "Blessing of the dremls". In his hand is str... who was born torRuby and clode right here at this TOGA. The birth was a great surprise to Clode, who hadn't seen ruby in two years. Some folks were unaware that dremls have an indefinite gestation period. Once conceived, the young are carried until a safe and comfortable time for them to be born. Given the varied but often harsh conditions of climate and terrain in the areas of Treadleonia that were the original habitat of the dremls, this was a valuable evolutionary development for the preservation of the species... so that young were not born during bad times or while the tribe was on a long and arduous trek.

My One Sewing Project
As I mentioned above, I didn't get much sit down and sew time. However, when hagr (dreml) showed up he was slightly late. He explained that he had been on a long trek and along the way had had a run in with a wild brindle stnkr... ferocious beasts found only in the wildest parts of Treadleonia... a dangerous encounter indeed. However, with his trusty staff, hagr triumphed and returned with the hide, which he asked me to sew into a new patch and hat for him, his old ones having suffered greatly in his travels. Here is the result. hagr is quite pleased...

We had rain and not rain, but when rain threatened, it was pretty downright intimidating... All of these cars, clean out of sight around the bend and down a branch road to the right, are ours... same in the opposite direction. We figure we had 75 people here.

Bad pic, but that table was full and so was the floor. By the time everyone left, only a few heads were in sight.

Sorry, but that's all the pix I have. There were lots of cameras in action, so I'm sure more pages will be posted as folks get home.

The Presentation Quilts
Ann and I were totally blown away when the group presented us with two special quilts in thanks for the 10 years we have supported and built the activity. The really amazing part is that this activity, which involved the whole of Treadle On, was carried out for months through internet communication and kept a secrect from the guy who actually runs the list!
I can't really do these justice in web pictures, and as I've mentioned on the list, Ann and I will need to study every single block... times over. However, since I know there was a lot of interest and activity going on that I wasn't aware of, I know that you will all want to see these. (Note: All of this has been put up very hurriedly, but I have learned that a web page is being built that will feature individual pictures and history of each block... I'm sure when it is ready a link will be published to the list.)
One thing worries me... many of the blocks clearly harked back to the early days of Treadleonia... Some of you are getting to be as old as I am!

Additional web pages and photo albums are already appearing as participants arrive home and recover from their trips. Here is a link to the first one I am aware of... a slide show of 93 pictures put up by Marie Evans... http://picasaweb.google.com/marie.evans/TreadleOn10thAnniversary
