White VSIII
treadle. fair condition, cabinet could use some Fenman's elixir
or similar. Has shuttle and one bobbin, I can probably find a
box of attachments if needed. There is a picture of the same model
head in my sewing machines album on webshots (different style
cabinet).
Since I have its twin, I really don't need this one. $35
Economy
by Standard treadle. Machine very masculine, with art deco
style decals. Full rotary, has bobbin case, some bobbins and attachments.
Cabinet needs some work, front apron has come off, but I have
it. Pictures on webshots (6th page). $25
New Home treadle. Older
style
with leaf tension, if I remember correctly. Decals faded,
has shuttle, bobbins and a few attachments. Nice style cabinet
with
curved front
drawers. Some veneer damage on top, I think. This one is
hard to get to, but if anyone is interested I'll get some pictures.
$50
Davis VF2 treadle. This is the middle model, doesn't take
15x1
needles. Sews great, used it for Davis exchange. Decals
are faded,
has shuttle, bobbin and some attachments. Fancy cabinet
with curved front drawers. Good condition except bottom of one
drawer
missing
and there is a little damage to the front side of the same
drawer. Pictures in webshots. This is a great machine, but
my NVF is
my go to machine, so I just don't use it enough. $175
Free
treadle, this one belongs to my sister. Very nice cabinet except
one
drawer was missing. Picture in for sale album of webshots.
$65
We can
bring any of these to the Tennessee TOGA if they are
spoken for, but we don't want to haul them up there unless we
know we won't
have to bring them back!
Let me know if you have any
questions.
I'd love to find all of these good homes!

FREE to good home!
New
Home leaf tension machine in cabinet. This had a motor at one
time but motor mount on the machine and wiring in the cabinet were
removed before it was given to me. Has all its parts except a
shuttle.
I don't know anything about New Home and don't want to throw
it out, but I don't have time to do anything with it. Handwheel
moves
rather easily, decals are obvious but not in very good condition,
very little rust, but this machine was definitely used. I don't
know where the serial number is, but someone scratched SCH55
7-14-45 on the underside of the slide plate. I've taken several
pictures
and can send you a link if interested. I could drop it off anywhere
in Louisiana or near Houston.

For Sale
In 2009, a good friend who is an antiques dealer showed
up with a truck load of machines and other SM stuff she acquired
over the last several years. She is not a sewer but seems to
have a good eye for machines. Below are listed the machines she
has
brought plus some of mine I was going to sell anyway.
This was
A LOT of machines to inventory. I may not have serial #s right.
I can’t remember if some of the hand cranks have cases
or not. I haven’t checked to see if all the bobbin cases
are there and, for the electrics, I don’t know if they
work or if the electrical apparatus (foot pedal) is there or
not. If interested
in a machine, email me for pictures, and I’ll double
check the bobbin cases and other details then. I will not thread
up
and sew on all of them, especially the electrics. Unfortunately,
the
two items on my wish list weren’t among the load she
brought: Veritas treadle and a ¾ (Singer 99) treadle
cabinet. So, if anybody has these to sell or trade, please
let me know. (I’m
not complaining. It was LOTS of fun to handle all these machines!)
- Email
me if you are interested in a particular machine. I’ll
get more details and send you pictures.
- If you think you
want it, I’ll bring it to a TOGA and you can have
a final once-over. I’d advise that you inspect any
before you buy because I’m
not familiar with all the types here and don’t know
if they work/are complete or not.
- OR-- You’re always
welcome to come by here to inspect and pick up (Waynesboro,
VA).
- My
car
space is limited (a Ford Focus), so the ones I’ll
bring to a TOGA are first- come, first served.
- Yes, I
will ship
some of
them.

Norwood Three-Pole
Quilt Frame - Dearborn, MI
I have for sale a beautiful Norwood
three-pole quilt frame. Made of beautiful Northern Cherry wood
and has an 80" quilt width. I only used it for two quilts
and haven't managed to work on a quilt since. One of it's features
is that it is a very sturdy frame. You won't feel like your
frame is going to fall apart using this baby.
Unlike some frames,
this
one has three poles which negates the need to baste your
quilt first. Your quilt top is attached to the front two poles
and
your backing is attached to the front and rear poles. Your
batting is
attached to the front pole and then just lays loosely between
the two layers and hangs out the back. This means that you
can tension
the front and back separately as necessary. The poles are
loosened and tightened by using the included rod (shown in the
center
pole of the left side picture). Each pole has a canvas leader
to attach
your quilt to. The side bars also have a leader so you can
tension the sides of the quilt as well.
I've also purchased
separately
the light stands that attach to the side. This is a piece
of wood that has a hole in it to attach a gooseneck light. The
one on the
right side was purchased from Norwood. The one on the left
side was made special because Norwood closed up shop by
the time I
was ready to buy it.
Easy assembly and disassembly for
storage when
not in use.
At the time, Norwood frames were the epitome
of quilt frames. To own one of their frames was to own an
heirloom piece
of furniture. Unfortunately, Norwood has closed it's
doors. As I remember, the owner (who had been in business for
many, many
years) wanted to retire and none of his children wanted
to take over the business.
This frame was a lifesaver for me
when
I bought
it. I used a REALLY thick batting on the quilt I
was working on and would never have been able to get it in a round
hoop, let alone
hold up the weight of it.
I paid about $600 for this
frame. The cherry wood was an additional charge (the standard
wood was maple).
Asking $350.
You can see pictures at http://www.picturetrail.com/sbejster in the 'Crafts for Sale' folder.
Of course, this
is
too large to be shipped so will have to be Pony Expressed.
If it helps, I will
be in Cincinnati, OH in the middle of July
and will be
attending
the Michigan TOGA at the end of July.
I answer
every note I get so if you don't hear from me within 24 hours
(usually within
3-4 hours), check your bulk mail folder.
My reply probably went
there.
