Legend says that the first settlers to reach Treadleonia were helped through the first difficult winter by bears, who showed them where to find onions, roots, berries and other food and how to cope with the mysterious native species, the dremls. Ever since, Treadleonians have had a soft spot for bears, and frequently sew bear replicas in memory of those who helped the early settlers.
