Mystery Quilt I
"Survivor - Rectangle Island"
Step 6
Important Notice! (That means you should read it!)
There is an option which you can exercise at this point. The original quilt I selected seemed a good possibility, but actually too simple. I thought I could improve it and still keep it simple. I think I succeeded very well, but it occured to me that perhaps some folks might actually like the original better or prefer it because it is simpler. The original is a bolder quilt, involving fewer, but larger, pieces. It makes a good looking and incredibly fast quilt... easily a one day project if you move along. (Need a baby or gift quilt in a hurry?) My version is more complex in appearance, but really isn't harder. It just involves more pieces. I'll tell you below how many pieces to cut for either version and it will be your option whether you take Path A... simpler/less work ... or Path B... more complex appearance, more work, but not really any more difficult. Of course, if you have plenty of fabric, feel free to do both! You'll have plenty of time, since once I finish this effort, I'm going to be awhile before I start posting the next mystery quilt. I want to actually complete that quilt myself before I start posting instructions, which is what I should have done this time. The Triangle Island quilt will be more difficult and will probably be posted in a more straightforward manner. (Probably....) This project is just so simple I thought we should have a bit of extra fun with it. Captain Dick
