Mystery Quilt I
"Survivor - Rectangle Island"
Step 8
Assembling the Rows
OK... some of you took Path A and some took Path B. In either case, you now know what your quilt will look like. Ihope you like it! From this point on, the path you took makes no difference, you will proceed the same. At this point you need to assemble your rows into the basic quilt top. For many of you, this is old stuff, but here are some pictures to help if you need them...
Here you see the stack of rows, as you picked them up at the end of your last step..
|
Place the stack for Row 1 to your right. Take off the top block and set it to your left |
Take the next block off the stack and place it next to the first block, then turn it over face down on the first block...
|
and sew them together. Then open them up and take the third block from the stack and sew it to the second, and so on... |
Lay the rows out as you finish them. Your next step,
Step 9, will be to assemble the rows into the basic quilt top. Step
10 will be a border.

|
Note: When I started sewing my first row together, I started by sewing two blocks into a pair, then the next two blocks into a pair, etc, then sewing the pairs together. It got too hard to keep all the orientations straight so I stopped doing that and did it by starting with Blocks 1 and 2, then adding Block 3, etc. This was a bit slower, but made keeping the quilt layout straight a lot easier.
