Treadle Covers

Treadle covers serve a variety of purposes... they keep dust off of the treadle top, keep the sun from fading the treadle's finish, and, in the case of flat treadles, provide a pad for whatever you sit on the treadle that might scratch it. This is especially a problem if you are one of those who like to keep a hand crank on exhibit on top of a treadle. Here are some pictures of a variety of treadle covers and pads. Also, don't forget to check out the link to Sewing Machine Covers, which provides an example of a neat fabric cover for an exposed machine head that is out all the time.

This, and the next three pictures, are of simple quilted pads I use on some of my treadles...

Here is an old picture of some treadle covers that could be bought and then embroidered.

Here is one submitted by an Onion, designed as a throw over for a coffin top treadle.

and here are some more old commercial ones. I wonder what would happen if you went into JoAnne's and asked for a treadle cover?
